NGO Kiko Network has analyzed Japan’s greenhouse gas emission data for FY2018. Results show that coal-fired power plants account for the top 4 GHG-emitting thermal power plants.

On June 22, youth in Germany and Japan joined together to protest the Japanese government’s blockage of a commitment to a concrete coal-fired power phase-out date in G7 negotiations. In Germany, youth protested in front of the Japanese Embassy in Berlin, while in Japan local residents and youth gathered in front of the construction site of the Yokosuka coal-fired power plant.
