【Database Update】Latest status of coal-fired power plants (October 1, 2022)


Japan Beyond Coal database update:

New Operation

On September 1, Tokuyama started commercial operation of the Tokuyama East Power Station, Unit 3 , which was constructed on the site of Tokuyama Works in Yamaguchi Prefecture (operator: Shunan Power Corporation, whose name was changed from TKE3). The output capacity of the unit is  300 MW with biomass co-firing.

Current status of coal-fired power plants in Japan: (as of October 1)

Operating: 168 Units
Planned (including under construction): 6 Units
Retired: 3 Units

EIA public comments for GENESIS Matsushima
