【Database Update】Latest status of coal-fired power plants (May 1, 2022)


Japan Beyond Coal database update:

On March 31, Shikoku Electric Power submitted the notification form about retirement of the Saijo Power Station Unit 1 (156MW, located in Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture) to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Replacement for this unit, Saijo Power Station New Unit 1, is planned to start operation in June 2023.

There is no updated information regarding Kobe Power Station Unit 4 (Hyogo Prefecture) that was planned to start initial firing in April.

Operating: 166 Units
Planned (including under construction): 8 Units
Retired: 3 Units
