・Still no explanation after Taketoyo’s fire accident
After the fire at Taketoyo Thermal Power Station on January 31, JERA announced that it conducted emergency inspections at its Hekinan Thermal Power Station (Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture) and Hitachinaka Thermal Power Station (Tokai-mura, Naka-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture), which use similar wood biomass fuel. Although JERA established an accident investigation committee on February 5, it has yet to disclose the cause of the fire. It mentioned “deepest apologies to the local community” on its website, but it is reported that JERA refused to accept a written request from neighboring residents to hold an explanatory meeting.
