【Report】Proposal for the 2030 Energy Mix (First Edition)
On August 6, 2020, Renewable Energy Institute releases the “Proposal for the 2030 Energy Mix (First Edition)”.
The released proposal shows the Japan’s path towards a renewable energy-based society. It insists the current state-wide energy mix has collapsed and needs urgent review. After saying that, I draw the image of a sustainable energy mix.
It also presents the necessary policy to achieve the energy policy goals that realize a carbon-free society, ensure a stable supply, reduce environmental risks, and provide affordable energy in the future.
The released proposal shows that it is feasible to achieve a “sustainable electricity generation mix”, which is supplied by 45% of renewable energy and not dependent on nuclear nor coal-fired generation by 2030.
