【Report】Proposal for the 2030 Energy Mix (First Edition)

On August 6, 2020, Renewable Energy Institute released the “Proposal for the 2030 Energy Mix (First Edition)”.

The released proposal shows Japan’s path towards a renewable energy-based society. It insists the current state-wide energy mix has collapsed and needs urgent review, and proposes what a sustainable energy mix looks like.
It also presents the necessary policy to achieve the energy policy goals to realize a carbon-free society, ensure a stable energy supply, reduce environmental risks, and provide affordable energy in the future.

The released proposal shows that it is feasible to achieve a “sustainable electricity generation mix”, which is supplied by 45% of renewable energy and not dependent on nuclear or coal-fired generation by 2030.
