“Endcoal.org” launched, offers comprehensive information on all coal-related matters

endcoal-logoA new website, Endcoal.org, has been launched today under the collaboration of environmental, social justice and health advocates around the world.

Endcoal.org is a new initiative which seeks to offer a hub on all matters concerning coal, and to offer a core resource for activists, local communities, researchers, students, and anyone else who wishes to learn more about the problems of coal-fired energy or about solutions to global energy concerns. It features the latest news on coal, blogs from leading international writers and activists on coal, and comprehensive resources on the nexus between coal and climate, water, health, finance, economics, and mining.

In addition, the website hosts the Coal Plant Tracker: a brand new interactive map and database developed by CoalSwarm that tracks all planned coal plants around the world since 2010. Anybody can use this tool to find such data as the number of coal plants planned in their countries, their stages of development, and more detailed information about those projects.

While the coal industry has become ever more relentless in mining and burning more coal, the movement to stop it continues to grow. Endcoal.org represents an encouraging new development, and should offer a valuable resource for understanding and fighting against coal as an energy source.
