Japan Beyond Coal database update:
As of August 1, there is no change in numbers of plants in operation, but Taketoyo No. 5 will start commercial operation on August 5. As soon as we confirm its status, we will update the countdown and plant data.
Yokosuka Coal-fired Power Station has started its trial operation in July as planned.
No Coal Tokyo Bay, a local group fighting against the Yokosuka coal-fired power project, has issued a statement of protest against JERA, which had started its trial operation. (in Japanese, Link).
