As of March 1, 2025, the number of operating units remains unchanged.
However, on February 27, Hokuriku Electric Power announced that it would keep operating Toyama Shinkou Power Station Unit 1 (Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture), which was scheduled to shut down at the end of FY2024, until FY2028, to ensure a stable power supply. This is a step backward toward the early coal phase-out.
